HISTORY

C E H - Field to Fragrance                                                                    Home to 100% pure essential oils.
Roman Chamomile has been grown in Hampshire since the 1950’s for the production of the essential oil. Some of the plant stock is now over 40 years old.

In 1956 Archie Casson brought a little green farm in Hampshire. Archie’s family had grown herbs and spices abroad, and he was asked by a family friend - can you grow some chamomile on your farm in the UK.
A few years on, the distillery on the farm was set up by his son Jim Casson.

A beautiful copper still. Like those you would see in the south of France a hundred years ago. The original Still was used on the farm with four others every summer until the early 2000’s, where the distillery was mechanised bit by bit to what is now. From there the scale of the chamomile grew and grew to the present day where the family still grow the same plant stock they started with.
Although the distillery looks quite different due to the mechanisation, it uses the same techniques to ensure quality of the oil is consistent for the customers across the globe

The variety of Chamomile is exceptionally important to us. The variety is exceptionally rare and there are we believe only two growers in the uk.
The history of the plant and those who have shaped its story is written in the soil beneath. The history is in the stories told over the generations.
The 4th generation who run through the farm like we did as kids, have been brought up with the chamomile surrounding their every day life.

The Pure Chamomile oil being used in their baths from to help sooth skin and calm bodies before bedtime.
And this is why CEH was started.Direct from the distillers here in Hampshire, the 100% pure essential oil, for you to enjoy in your home.
